American disaster movies seem quite relatable while the Global pandemic outbreak leads us to lock ourselves in our rooms. If superhero movies are a thing then definitely disaster movies are too. The plot evolves around comets that are ready to hit Earth soon, which might cause extinction to humanity only if they hid in basement bunkers in Greenland. The movie shows family man John Garrity’s struggles to save his family from the hard-hitting comets before it’s too late.

Geostorm

An American Disaster movie was released in 2017, directed by Dean Devlin. The film is lead by Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris, Abbie Cornish, Richard Schiff, Alexandra Maria Lara, Robert Sheehan, Daniel Wu, Eugenio Derbez, and Andy García. The movie was released on October 20, 2017. The plot revolves around a satellite designer who initiates to save people from an upcoming disastrous storm with unreal proportions which is caused by Climatic control satellite malfunction.

Goodbye World

An American Disaster movie was released in 2013, directed by Denis Henry Hennelly. The film is lead by Kerry Bishé, Caroline Dhavernas, Adrian Grenier, Gaby Hoffmann, Ben McKenzie, Scott Mescudi, and Mark Webber. The plot revolves around a group of friends who unite themselves in the Northern woods of San Fransisco and suddenly the world seems to collapse around them.

An American Disaster movie was released in 2014, directed by Vic Armstrong. The film is lead by Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray, Cassi Thomson, Nicky Whelan, and Jordin Sparks. The movie was released on October 3, 2014. The plot revolves around an Airplane pilot who suddenly finds out that the passengers have disappeared from the plane but their belongings are present. It’s only when the plane lands they learn that people have gone missing out of sudden so the air pilot is left with an only option to united with his daughters and other fellow mates to find out the mystery.

An American Disaster movie was released in 2009, directed by  Roland Emmerich. The film is lead by John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover, and Woody Harrelson. The movie was released on November 13, 2009. The plot revolves around Adrian Helmsley being a geologist who finds out the Earth’s crust has gone unstable, the alignments of planets have changed solar flare, which follows natural disasters. The movie is inspired by the Mayanism and the phenomenon that said the end of all life in 2012.

4:44 Last Day on Earth

An American french Disaster movie was released in 2011, directed by    Abel Ferrara. The film is lead by  Willem Dafoe, Shanyn Leigh, Natasha Lyonne, and Paul Hipp. The Movie revolves around a painter and an actor who spends the last day until the world ends at a specific time and was released on December 19, 2020.

The Wave

A Disaster movie directed by Roar Uthaug and was released on 31 August 2018, is a prequel to The Quake. Where there was an Earthquake in 1904 of the 5.4 Ritcher scale, there’s an expectation of a future earthquake even bigger in The Quake, this one revolves around the same geologist forecasts an avalanche of 98ft height.  Lead by Kristoffer Joner, Ane Dahl Torp, Jonas Hoff Oftebro, Edith Haagenrud-Sande, and Kathrine Thorborg Johansen the movie grossed about $12.8 million worldwide.

Deep Impact

An American Sci-fi Disaster film, directed by Mimi Leder. The movie stars Robert Duvall, Téa Leoni, Elijah Wood, Vanessa Redgrave, Maximilian Schell, and Morgan Freeman. Steven Spielberg and was released on May 8, 1998. The movie revolves around a comet, 7 miles huge that’s set to hit Earth resulting in the extinction of life on Earth. 

Knowing

A Sci-fi disaster film was released in 2009, directed by Alex Proyas. The movie cast Nicolas Cage, Rose Byrne, Chandler Canterbury Joshua Long, Lara Robinson, Nadia Townsend, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Hopgood, Benita Collings. 50 years later a set of students examine the contents of a time capsule and discovers an encrypted message that mentions dates, death tolls, and location of each disaster that happened in the past 50 years, and lastly, it has hints of a final disaster-related to Ted and his son.
